Bharananganam: 5kms from Pala

This quiet village by the Meenachil river is an ancient center of Christianity. The millennium old St. Mary’s Forane Church dominates the village. The Clarist Convent where Blessed Alphonsa lived and died is few meters away. She was the first lady of Indian origin to be beatified by the Catholic Church. Thousands gather here in July during the annual Feast of the Blessed Alphonsa.

Kurisumala: 40 kms from Pala

This renowned Christian pilgrim center attracts thousands of devotees from far and near during and after the Holy week. They climb the hill carrying small wooden crosses. The soul finds rest at the serene Monastery among green downs cooled by nippy winds.
